I know I said I was over you.... but it's just not true....

I've tried.... I really have.... but I'm just not over you. I know today is the first day of Fall.... and try as I might... I just can't embrace it yet. I guess with the temps hovering around 95 degrees who can blame me. So.... I'm off to the beach again, for a week of lounging in the sand, maybe sippin a margarita or two and reading.... lots and lots of reading. Maybe when I get back I'll really be able to wrap myself around some Fall.
Until then.... I'm having a summer flashback.....

Chair Changes.....

I got a wild hair last weekend to change up my zebra chair. I really like the chair but was growing a little tired of the zebra print. I had bought a ton of burlap a few months ago to make some pillows, which I have only made one, thus... I have lots of burlap. I threw it in the washing machine and dryer....it really smelled nasty unpleasant and I figured washing it would help. I also aired it outside on the deck for a day. I had H.H. help me take apart the chair and he pulled off the piping around the back and removed the bizillion staples.
Then.... I got busy with the staple gun. I did not take a picture of this process because I had burlap every where... sticking to by sweaty face etc...... not pretty.... about half way thru when my hand started hurting from all the stapling, I asked myself ... why?.....why did I think this was a good idea......but... because I'm not a quitter, I kept at it and finally got all the burlap stapled in place.
then came time for the piping trim..... what? I don't have any trim to cover all those bizillion staples...
but I did have lots of twine.... remember bowls of twine.....this is where things get a little sticky....I got out my trusty glue gun and finished the job. I am really happy with the way it turned out.... and until I get another wild hair.... I will enjoy my burlap chair!

Enjoy your weekend!

starting to feel like Fall....

H.H. got up bright and early this morning to go out and work on the yard.He turned on the sprinkler system for a couple of hours... then it was time to aerate and seed...sure sign that it is September and almost Fall around here. Reluctant to give up on summer I have conceded to bringing in some Fall touches here and there....
I packed away the shells for now.... pulled out the dried artichokes and pods....
also this year I am crazy about jute twine, string, rope and burlap ribbon..... H.H. just thinks I'm crazy...
who puts string in bowls and platters...
it adds a rustic quality which I am really digging.
they are small changes.... but that will help to ease me into the season.

hope you are having a great "almost Fall" weekend!

P.S.  Yesterday while  I was forced to go out and shop I found the twin to my lamp with the script shade that I posted about earlier. Twins seperated @ birth have been reunited! Best part, got her on clearance!! They decided to share a room so I moved them both into the dining room on the buffet.

a Martha moment...

Several years ago my daughter gave me a Martha Stewart book on wreath making. We had this idea that we would gather all sorts of stuff  from my garden to make wreaths and sell them. Yeah, that's probably never going to happen. Anyway.... while I was out this morning picking up pine cones and trimming back  the crap that grows on everything   the kudzu, I had this brilliant idea to make a wreath from my trimmings.
I brought the clippings to my potting shed and  started brain storming. O.K. it did not take much brain storming, I just started to weave it around in a circle.
It was easy.... but I sneezed.... a lot. Then before you know it I had this...

and because I can never leave well enough alone... I decided to add some of my beloved hydrangea's...
ta daaaa! My Martha moment.....I'm very interested to see what will happen when things start to dry. If its not too ugly, maybe I'll share.
Have a wonderful Holdiay weekend.
